Viberschecklist is run by Vishnu Shankar, an individual based in India. This page says what we collect when you use viberschecklist.com, why, how long we keep it, and who else handles it. For questions or requests, email hello@viberschecklist.com.
The short version
- We don’t set cookies, show ads or load tracking scripts, and we never sell your data.
- We keep the results of a check for 10 minutes. We don’t keep reports.
- We keep your email only if you give it to us, and only until you ask us to remove it.
- Our usage counts never contain the address you checked, your IP address or your email.
What we collect and why
The address you check
To check an app, we load its public pages the way a browser would, and look up the domain’s email records through Cloudflare’s and Google’s public DNS services.
The results are kept for 10 minutes, so a repeat check is fast, and then they’re deleted. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, keeps operational logs of requests for up to 7 days. These logs include the address you checked and your IP address, and we only use them to find and fix problems.
Your IP address
We use your IP address to limit how many checks one connection can run: 3 a minute and 5 a day, so nobody can use up the free service for everyone else. The per-minute counter lives for about a minute inside Cloudflare’s network. For the daily count, we store a scrambled code made from your IP address, today’s date and a secret key, with the number of checks. It can’t be turned back into your IP address, it changes every day, and we delete it after the day ends. Your IP address also goes to Cloudflare Turnstile with your check (below), and it appears in the hosting logs (above).
The bot check (Cloudflare Turnstile)
When you start a check, Cloudflare Turnstile runs in your browser to tell people from bots. Most people never see it. It collects your IP address, a fingerprint of your browser’s secure connection, your browser’s user agent, and which site and page it runs on. Cloudflare says it uses these only to detect and block bots, as described in its Turnstile Privacy Addendum. We only get back a pass or a fail. Turnstile only loads once you start using the checker form, or open a share link that runs a check.
Your email, if you give it to us
There are two optional email fields: the waitlist in “Coming soon”, and “Re-check this app every week” under a finished report. When you use one, we store your email address, the time, and the country your connection came from (as reported by Cloudflare). For the re-check line, we also store the address of the app you checked.
We use your email only to tell you about the feature you signed up for. For the waitlist, that’s one email when it’s ready. For re-checks, it’s an email when weekly re-checks start for that app. We don’t add you to anything else.
Usage counts
To see whether the checker works for people, we count events such as: a check started, a check finished, an error of a certain type, a group of checks had a problem, a fix prompt was copied (and for which check), all prompts were copied, a share link was opened, and someone joined a list. Each count records the event, the country and the time. It never records the address you checked, your IP address or your email, and no cookie or ID links one count to another. The counts are kept by Cloudflare Workers Analytics Engine for 3 months.
Your light or dark theme
If you choose a theme, your browser remembers it in its own storage. It never leaves your device.
Emails you send us
Email to hello@viberschecklist.com is forwarded by Cloudflare Email Routing to our Gmail inbox. We keep it as long as we need to answer you, and we delete it if you ask.
How long we keep it
- Check results: 10 minutes.
- Hosting logs (address checked, IP address): up to 7 days.
- Rate limit counters: about a minute for the per-minute limit; the daily count, stored under a scrambled code of your IP address, until the day ends (UTC), then deleted.
- Waitlist and re-check emails: until you ask us to remove them, or until we stop offering the feature.
- Usage counts: 3 months.
- Emails you send us: as long as we need to answer you.
Who else handles it
- Cloudflare, Inc. (United States): hosting, the bot check, storing emails, daily check counts, usage counts and email forwarding.
- Google LLC (United States): Google Public DNS receives the domain you check, and Gmail holds email you send us.
Both process data in the United States and other countries. We never sell or rent your data, and we never share it for advertising.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to tell you what we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. You can also withdraw your consent to emails at any time, and we’ll delete your email address. Because we hold so little, we may ask you to write from the email address in question, so we know it’s yours.
Under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you can also nominate someone to use these rights for you if you die or can’t act yourself, and you can raise a grievance with us. If we don’t resolve it, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India. If you’re in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you can also complain to your data protection authority.
For visitors in the EU and UK: we rely on your consent for emails, on providing the check you asked for when we load the address you enter, and on our legitimate interest in keeping the service running and safe for rate limits, the bot check, logs and usage counts.
Write to hello@viberschecklist.com. We’ll reply within 30 days.
Children
Viberschecklist isn’t meant for anyone under 18. If you’re under 18, please don’t leave your email. If we learn we hold a child’s email, we’ll delete it.
Changes to this policy
When we change this policy, we update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use an email you’ve given us, we’ll email you before it takes effect.
